On May 4, 2018, the first Kyma Festival, dedicated to inclusive dance, was held in the crowded Theater of Athens School of Fine Arts, aiming to open the field of art for all social groups.
With great persistence and passion, about 30 people from 3 countries worked to make our first festival happen. Overcoming difficulties and creating opportunities we designed a dance festival in an accessible space with accessible content for everyone.
The turn out was amazing! More than 170 spectators with and without disabilities filled the theater and watched with excitement the two performances by the mixed-abled dance groups tanzbar_bremen, Compagnie DK-BEL and Exis.
We would like to thank everyone who, due to the sold out, could not attend seated.
“As founder and project-manager of Kyma Project, I would like to thank all our partners and supporters as well as the audience. Their response confirms more than ever that accessibility concerns everyone. “
